Botox & Fillers

BOTOX® Cosmetic

BOTOX® has been used therapeutically for more than 17 years to treat a variety of medical conditions. It is approved in more than 75 countries and remains the most-studied botulinum toxin and one of the most widely researched medicines in the world. In 2002, the same formulation – under the label BOTOX® Cosmetic – was approved by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for treatment of moderate to severe frown lines between the brows in people ages 18 to 65.

During treatment, very low doses of BOTOX® Cosmetic are administered via a few tiny injections directly into the muscles responsible for frown lines between the brows. By blocking the release of a chemical that causes these muscles to contract, BOTOX® Cosmetic enables them to relax. The effects are very localized and, when administered by an experienced physician or nurse, do not affect your ability to smile, laugh, or otherwise show expression. BOTOX® Cosmetic is the only product of its kind that has been approved for use in this area.

What are the common side effects?

The most common side effects following injection include temporary eyelid droop and nausea. Localized pain, infection, inflammation, tenderness, swelling, redness, and/or bleeding/bruising may be associated with the injection. If you experience discomfort from any of these symptoms, please call our office.

What is the treatment like?

BOTOX® Cosmetic is a quick and minimally invasive procedure consisting of a few tiny injections. Your doctor or nurse will determine exactly where to administer these injections to achieve the best results for you. No anesthesia is required, though you may choose to numb the area with a cold pack or anesthetic cream prior to injecting. The entire procedure takes approximately 10 minutes, and there is no downtime afterward. Discomfort is minimal and brief.

Will I still be able to make facial expressions?

Although you may see a marked improvement, a treatment with BOTOX® Cosmetic does not make you look like you’ve “had work done.” The muscle activity that causes frown lines is simply reduced, so you can still frown or look surprised without the wrinkles and creases between your brows.

How soon will I see a difference?

You can expect to see results within days after your treatment, and the appearance of the area between your brows may continue to improve for up to a week. Your own results may vary – be sure to talk to your doctor or nurse about what you can expect.

Fillers

Fillers is the term used for a number of injectable solutions designed to smooth out fine lines and wrinkles and restore volume loss to areas such as the temple, under eye, lip, and cheek areas. The result is a more youthful and refreshed look. Filler can also be used to correct the nose, referred to as a liquid nose job.

We offer a number of different options to fit all of our clients’ needs. Depending on the product that is best suited for your needs, fillers can last up to 2 years, although the average is 6-9 months. Results can be seen immediately, although there are fillers that work over time for a more subtle transition. See our before and after images below for different examples of what can be done with filler. For specific fillers and descriptions, scroll down below.

Juvéderm/Voluma™

JUVÉDERM® is the smooth gel filler that your doctor uses to instantly smooth away wrinkles and lift cheeks. With just one treatment, you’ll get smooth and natural-looking results that last up to a year, or two for Voluma.

As you age, your skin changes. For example, it reduces production of a naturally hydrating substance called hyaluronic acid (HA). Over time, the loss of HA in your skin results in facial wrinkles and folds, like those “parentheses” lines around your mouth. Juvéderm™ injectable gel replaces the HA your skin has lost, bringing back its volume and smoothing away facial wrinkles and folds.

What can I expect during and after a Juvéderm™ injectable gel treatment?

Wrinkle correction with Juvéderm™ is a quick, in-office procedure with immediate results and no downtime. Common side effects with Juvéderm™ injectable gel usually are mild or moderate. Patients who are using substances that can prolong bleeding, such as aspirin or ibuprofen, as with any injection, may experience increased bruising or bleeding at injection site. You should inform your physician before treatment if you are using these types of substances.

Everyone’s skin ages differently and JUVÉDERM® may be used to rejuvenate multiple problem areas. From smile lines and vertical lip lines to youthful cheeks, you can smooth away unwanted wrinkles and restore natural contours. Experience the smooth, natural look and feel that lasts.

Radiesse®

Radiesse® is a more robust dermal filler for added support and structure to restore facial volume and correct moderate to severe folds and wrinkles for a more youthful appearance. This filler can last up to one year or more, and has the unique ability to stimulate the growth of new collagen. Treatment results are immediate with little to no down time.

Radiesse is a safe, FDA-approved dermal filler that restores a natural, long lasting, youthful look. This convenient treatment can restore facial volume volume as well as correct smile lines, Nasolabial Folds and wrinkles around the nose and mouth. Radiesse is made of unique calcium-based microspheres suspended in a natural gel that is injected into the skin through a simple, safe and minimally invasive procedure.

How does Radiesse work?

Radiesse works with your body, below the skin’s surface. Tiny calcium-based microspheres form a “scaffold” to support and stimulate the growth of your own collagen. Over time, the calcium-based microspheres gradually break down and are safely and naturally absorbed by your body. Radiesse does more than just temporarily fill-in facial folds and wrinkles – it can restore facial volume for the youthful look you want.

Radiesse is completely safe.  Hundreds of thousands of patients have experienced Radiesse and more than 4,000 physicians worldwide have been trained to provide Radiesse treatments. Through years of clinical studies and independent research, Radiesse has proven to be safe and effective. With Radiesse, you can count on FDA-approved, safe, clinically tested reliability.

How soon can I expect results? How long will the results last?

The results are immediate. Radiesse may last a year or more in many patients. Since results may vary, be sure to discuss your expectations with your doctor or nurse

Are there any side effects?

Normal, injection-related reactions, such as mild irritation, swelling, itching, bruising, or tenderness at the injection site may occur. These conditions typically resolve on their own.

Is Radiesse permanent?

No. Treatment results are long-lasting, but not permanent. The calcium-based microspheres gradually break down and are safely and naturally absorbed by your body.

Microneedling

Automated Micro-Needling (also known as Collagen Induction Therapy or CIT) is a new innovation in aesthetic medicine for treating the appearance of fine lines, stretch marks, hyperpigmentation, acne scars and improvement of the skin’s overall appearance.

During this procedure, the Eclipse MicroPen™ is used to create controlled micro-injuries to the skin in order to naturally produce collagen and elastin. The skin’s repair process results in improvement of the appearance of softer wrinkles. Automated micro-needling also creates superficial micro-channels which can be used with topical gels, creams and serums to help improve the appearance of the epidermal layer of the skin.

Eclipse MicroPen™ is the most advanced medical-grade automated micro-needling device on the market.

How Is MicroPen™ Different From Dermal Needling Rollers?

Automated micro-needling devices move in a vertical direction for better precision when treating the skin. Unlike Automated Micro-needling the roller does not create a precise vertical action.

The lack of precision can contribute to greater discomfort and inconsistent effects to the skin.

How Is The Procedure Done?

A sterile cartridge containing 12 tiny micro-points is attached to the Eclipse MicroPen™. Your skincare professional will apply a thin layer of topical gel to your skin and select the appropriate treatment setting based on your unique needs.

Next, in a single motion, the pen will be gently pressed against the skin while simultaneously gliding until the entire treatment area has been covered. This process results in thousands of superficial microscopic channels throughout the entire treatment area.
